Foreign Minister: Bahrain calls for UN Security Council meeting to end Ukraine War

Manama, Feb. 23 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain urged the major world powers, especially the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, to stop the escalation and hold an international meeting without preconditions to resolve disputes.

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani stressed the importance of reaching consensual, peaceful, balanced and sustainable solutions that lead to stopping the war between Russia and Ukraine, addressing its causes, ending bloodshed and achieving comprehensive peace.

He pointed out that this process will contribute to the consolidation of international peace and security, and support the values ​​of love, human brotherhood, tolerance and coexistence among the peoples of the world.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supports efforts aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue and diplomacy in a way that achieves the interests of both sides of the conflict and preserves the security, peace and stability of the European continent, and spares the whole world its humanitarian, security and economic repercussions.”

In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), Dr. Al-Zayani expressed the Kingdom’s deep concern about tensions, threats, political and military escalation, and global polarization, as the war in Ukraine marks its first anniversary.

He warned of the growing fears of the extension of the wall and the possibility of huge loss of life and property and serious humanitarian, political and economic effects on the two neighboring countries, in addition to their threats to world peace, energy and food supplies.
