First relief aid shipment delivered to Syria

Damascus, Feb. 23 (BNA): In implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to support the brotherly Syrian people in their humanitarian ordeal resulting from the devastating earthquake that struck parts of their country recently, and in line with distinguished values. Brotherly relations between the two countries and their peoples, a plane carrying the first relief shipment for those affected by the earthquake arrived at Damascus International Airport today.

The Secretary General of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), the CEO of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey, and members of the National Committee accompanied the shipment, which included 40 tons of emergency medical materials and equipment for hospitals and shelters. .

The delegation was welcomed by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Syria, Wahid Mubarak Sayyar, members of the diplomatic mission at the embassy, ​​the representative of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and a number of Syrian officials.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed indicated that based on the directives of His Majesty the King and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness, led by His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs. His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa launched a national campaign to support those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.

He added that the Bahrainis participated extensively in the Day of Solidarity, to be the best example of solidarity with the brotherly Syrian people.

He said that the campaign is still ongoing and the door for contribution is open to all, as the ultimate goal is to implement development projects for the brothers in Syria.

In this regard, he unveiled a project to establish a hospital in the name of Bahrain in Syria, as part of relief and assistance work for the wounded affected by the devastating earthquake.

Dr. Al-Sayed indicated that this shipment of urgent aid includes medicines, equipment and shelter supplies, adding that a team of specialists will conduct a field tour in the areas affected by the earthquake to collect first-hand information on the necessary needs. of the wretched.

He added that a medical team specialized in disasters will be sent to Syria to help treat those injured in the earthquake.

The Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Khaled Al-Hababati, expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad, praising the support of Bahrain’s leadership, government and people.

He said that the shipment will contribute to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the earthquake, stressing the depth of brotherly relations between the two countries and their peoples.

Ambassador Waheed Sayyar said that, based on the directives of His Majesty the King, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, the Bahrain Embassy has taken all necessary arrangements to deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the earthquake in Syria.

The envoy praised the efforts of the Health Care Foundation, led by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad, in supporting the brotherly Syrian people in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.
