Finance Ministry: Initial financial estimates for 2022 showed a decrease in deficit levels

Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): The Ministry of Finance and National Economy revealed that the preliminary financial results achieved during 2022 showed an increase in public revenues and a decline in fiscal deficit levels, with the Kingdom of Bahrain continuing its commitments to the public finance sector. The ministry stated that the preliminary financial statements for 2022 showed an increase in total oil revenues by 58% compared to budget estimates and by 36% compared to actual results for 2021. The total public revenues amounted to 3,490 Bahraini dinars. million, an increase of 42% over budget estimates and 33% compared to actual results for 2021. While non-oil revenues increased by 15% compared to budget estimates and by 28% compared to budget results. 2021.

The government managed to maintain the estimated levels of total public expenditures, with total expenditures reaching 3,668 million BD in 2022. A total of 190 million BD was spent on projects, while 3,478 million BD was spent on recurrent expenditures.

The ministry also indicated that the total fiscal deficit decreased by 85% to reach 178 million Bahraini dinars, compared to the budget deficit estimated at 1,185 million Bahraini dinars.
