Manama, September 26 (BNA) Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa highlighted Bahrain’s success in combating the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
He said that priority was given to the interests of the homeland and the citizen, adding that all resources were harnessed to support efforts to mitigate the epidemic, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He stressed the importance of mobilizing all efforts to deal with the repercussions of the epidemic, achieve economic recovery, meet aspirations that benefit citizens and economic sectors, and achieve the objectives of the fiscal balance program by 2024.
He stressed during a remote meeting with the editors-in-chief of local newspapers the need to adopt the best option that would have the least impact on citizens, especially the low-income groups.
He stressed the keenness to exempt 94 food commodities from the added value, in addition to 1,400 government services.
The minister praised the positive cooperation with the legislative branch of the government for more projects that contribute to national development, praising the role of the national press, which represents and is an indispensable partner in the success of national projects.
