Fast entry for earthquake victims with Berlin relatives

Berlin, Feb. 12 (BNA): Senator of the Berlin Interior Ministry, Iris Springer, announced measures to facilitate entry into Germany for earthquake-affected people who have relatives in the German capital.

They should be able to obtain the necessary visa more quickly than usual. Proof of proficiency in the German language will be waived, she said, adding that the regulation applies to close relatives such as minor children and spouses. The dpa news agency reports that fast-track visa support will be available until July 31, 2023.

The federal government has promised a “practical solution” for issuing visas to earthquake survivors.

Federal Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir spoke in favor of facilitating entry so that those affected by the earthquake could join their relatives in Germany.

“Many people in Germany have relatives in the disaster area and they are very worried about them,” said Cem Özdemir.
