Dubai, September 15 (BNA) The organizers have announced improved entry procedures for Expo 2020 Dubai to ensure a safe and exceptional event.
The announcement came as Expo 2020 Dubai, amid renewed demand for international travel, prepares to welcome millions of visitors in the largest global gathering since the start of the pandemic.
Under these measures, visitors 18 years of age or older will be required to provide evidence of any vaccine recognized by their national government or a negative PCR test taken in the past 72 hours.
Unvaccinated ticket holders who have not been tested during this period can take the test at the PCR testing facility adjacent to the Expo 2020 site.
A network of testing centers will be available across the city and can be found on the Expo 2020 website. On presentation of any valid Expo 2020 ticket, along with an Expo 1-Day or Multi-Day Pass, the PCR test will be free of charge.
“The UAE continues to drive the recovery of global tourism, and Expo 2020 Dubai will be the only global gathering of this size and cultural diversity since the start of COVID-19,” said the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai. Reem Al Hashemi said.
“By modernizing vaccination and testing requirements, we are opening up a world of discovery and education for every visitor from every corner of the planet, enabling the world to experience Expo 2020’s great offerings in a safe and secure way.
As we prepare to welcome tourists in the UAE and visitors to Expo 2020, we need to build on our successes in combating COVID 19, as we have seen a drop of nearly 84 per cent in cases in the past eight months.
The minister added that the commitment of the UAE to the health and safety of all visitors, participants and employees will remain the first priority.
“We will continue to follow the guidance of leading scientific and medical experts, adjusting our measures as appropriate in our commitment to hosting an exceptional experience that all the world can enjoy. This enhanced action is responsible, agile and necessary as we prepare to open our doors to the world.”
The measures align with broader strategies across the UAE, including strict COVID-19 measures and testing programs run by UAE airports and ports.
As of September, the UAE has provided nearly 19 million doses of vaccination and has immunized 80 percent of its entire population.
Dubai has witnessed a steady influx of visitors since reopening its doors to tourists in July 2020, and the emirate received 2.85 million visitors in the first half of 2021, with numbers expected to accelerate in the fourth quarter, supported by Expo 2020 Dubai, and Golden Emirates. Jubilee celebrations.
“Dubai’s effective COVID-19 management strategy has allowed Expo preparations to run smoothly, and the enhanced requirements announced by Expo 2020 organizers today reinforce the Expo’s goal of bringing everyone together to join the making of a new world,” said Dimitri Kirkenzis, Secretary. Strong Expo plans include mandatory vaccination of all Expo employees, international participants, volunteers, contractors and service providers. Disinfection stations on site and mandatory face masks will be maintained indoors and outdoors and within two meters of social distancing.
From October 1, 2021 until March 31, 2022, Expo 2020 invites all people to join in creating a new world as visitors reconnect with a six-month celebration of creativity, innovation, human progress and culture.
