Espanyol ends Madrid’s 25-game unbeaten streak in Spain

Madrid, October 3 (BUS): After his third stumble in a week, a cause for concern suddenly emerged in Real Madrid, according to the Associated Press.

Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Espanyol on Sunday to end a run of 25 games in a row unbeaten in La Liga.

The defeat extended her winless run to three games in all competitions after a near-perfect start to the season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team was coming out of a surprise defeat at home to Sheriff of Moldova in the Champions League and a goalless draw at home against Villarreal in the Spanish League.

Real Madrid started the season with six wins in their first seven matches overall before losing to Villarreal and losing to Sherif. They thrived offensively, and entered the weekend with the best attack in the league with 21 goals in seven games.

Real Madrid are still top of the league thanks to a better goal difference than defending champions Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad.

Atletico beat Barcelona 2-0 at home on Saturday, while Sociedad drew 1-1 with bottom-placed Getafe on Sunday.

The top three teams have 17 points from eight games. Sevilla, who visit Granada without a win later on Sunday, have 14 points from six matches.
