Environment Supreme Council, NBB Group launch ESG Academy

Manama, October 23 (BNA) The National Bank of Bahrain Group and the Supreme Council for Environment have launched the internal academic environment, social and corporate governance for employees.

The Academy seeks to spread awareness of sustainability and practices among the stakeholders of the group, in line with the sustainable goals of the National Bank of Bahrain.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Minister of Environment and Oil, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dina, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Bahrain Farouk Yousef Khalil Al-Moayad.

The climate affairs envoy affirmed the council’s support and contributions to the launch of the academy to enhance the level of public awareness of environmental affairs and Bahrain’s goals towards building knowledge and achieving comprehensive cooperation between various sectors within the Kingdom.

This comes within the realization of the strategy and goals set by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister at the twenty-sixth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 26). The minister said that the academy will train the group’s employees and members of the sustainability committee at the National Bank of Bahrain in the areas of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) practices.

He explained that this partnership comes within the framework of the implementation of His Majesty the King’s personal representative and president of the Saudi Council of Engineers to build communication with government, private and civil agencies and support the new generation of technology that serves the environment in the Kingdom.
