Main activities carried out:
• Support manager to establish/implement department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
• Develop departmental action plans in line with divisional/business unit/client objectives
• Ensure that the overall management process aligns with the client’s plans
• Budgeting and Control
• Assist the manager in developing/implementing the business plan, priorities and business objectives of the department
• Participate/contribute to the staffing and budget planning department as instructed by the Engineering Manager.
• Monitor costs and resources in daily activities as approved by the Engineering Manager.
• Support manager in establishing and monitoring department’s staffing and budget forecasts.
• Ensure that all management related contracts are in accordance with client and contract procedures
Operational tasks:
• Representing management in executive management meetings as necessary
• Create, implement, monitor and enforce department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
• Actively participate in relevant coordination meetings and provide guidance in daily operations
• Managing the preparation of studies, technical specifications and engineering designs for the client
• Review scope of work for engineering projects and technical specifications and manage proposal analysis.
• Review soil investigation reports and advise on appropriate construction sites.
• Supervising the issuance of building permits and licenses to use facilities.
• Develop guidelines for the design of roads, sidewalks, lighting, storm water drainage and city beautification projects.
• Review and recommend approval of engineering drawings and documents.
• Management and control of technical studies and engineering contracts.
• Manage the process of providing services related to investors/tenants in line with their requests.
• Manage/supervise the process of preparing design, technical specifications, issuance and details of engineering drawings, blueprints, graphs and statistics.
• Responsible for preparing the detailed monthly report prepared by the Project Management Department.
• Western expatriates with a bachelor’s degree only
• Bachelor’s degree from Western University in a related field (engineering) preferably civil
• Master’s degree in related field (Engineering/Project Management) would be an added advantage
• Experience in large city/industrial, infrastructure, commercial, residential, municipal projects, etc.
• 20 years of relevant work experience
• 5 years in a managerial position for engineering design and implementation of engineering projects
• Substantial experience as an engineering manager in the Middle East with a leading design/PM consultancy
• Relevant PE or PMP certification is preferred
• Knowledge of international design codes is required
• Familiarity with technical reports, specifications, drawings and proposals.
• Familiarity with cost control and cost management methods.
• Experience in designing technical projects, preparing project scope and technical details and then evaluating and analyzing proposals from vendors for implementation
• Cost management skills.
• Proficiency in related computer, Microsoft package, and other related software AutoCAD, MATLAB, etc.
• Time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced knowledge of English – spoken and written.
