the opportunity

Reporting to the MENA Talent Leader, the role actively aims to manage the relationships between EY and its employees. To provide fair and consistent treatment of all employees through dependable policies, procedures and practices that adhere to local laws and EY’s global approach. The primary function of employee relations is to strategically prevent problems arising from situations in the workplace. The secondary function of employee relations is to manage events as they inevitably arise

Your main responsibilities:

Conduct and lead independent investigations into highly complex employee matters, escalate and other complaints to accurately discover facts, resolve problem(s), and mitigate risks to the Company within established time frames.
Provide advice, guidance and training to talent team members and business partners on appropriate handling and resolution of employee relations issues where the emergency department is not investigating a particular issue(s) or when responsibility has been delegated to another appropriate partner (eg on-premises HR or external)
Develop the talent team’s ability to understand and apply recruitment laws, policies and practices in the MENA region to ensure consistency and risk management.
Track and analyze trends of ER issues, diagnose root causes, and develop recommendations for corrective strategies.
Develop a reporting mechanism for employee relations analytics and data, as appropriate
Work with internal legal counsel and external attorneys in formulating guidelines that can promote a productive and healthy employee relationship.
Work with internal legal counsel, internal risks and external attorneys on all legal areas and risks associated with human resources.
Draft (when applicable), review and update all HR policies and guidelines along with the respective HR functions, legal counsel and risk advisor.
Adopt and implement ER programs to enhance employee relations.
Contract point for all internal and external legal advice to employees and human resources
Create and maintain all legal documents throughout the employee lifecycle
Ensure that all employee contracts and legal documents are up to date
Manage and administer all disciplinary and grievance investigations, policies, procedures, texts and related documents
Advise on and manage all involuntary terminations
Advise and act as a center of excellence for team members and talent on employee relations activities and issues
Advise business and coaching to ensure the most appropriate course of action for ER issues
Providing legal updates to the work team and talent.

Success skills and attributes:

Demonstrated ability to influence senior levels in the organization
Demonstrate experience and knowledge of contemporary HR and OD practices and a sound understanding of SL business
It would be beneficial to have a profile of an HR specialist as well as legal or ER . experience
Demonstrate strong relationship building and networking skills
Demonstrate competence to work in virtual teams
– Demonstrate strong business acumen
Demonstrate excellence in the training and development of executives
Strong project management skills perfectly acquired in an international / cross-border context
Ability to understand and integrate cultural differences, and motivate/lead cultural teams
– Strong verbal and written English skills required
– Arabic will be an advantage

To qualify for the round:

10+ years of experience working in a regional emergency role with a legal and business legal background.
Build and maintain impactful relationships with business leaders and managers, working closely with them to develop joint solutions to meet their business needs
Establish an effective relationship across HR to ensure that centrally developed products and initiatives meet legal, risk and employee well-being standards
Work with dedicated HR team members such as Total Reward and Talent Development to deliver risk-free and legally sound processes and initiatives
Advise on and manage any sensitive issues in relation to performance management and test reviews
Maintaining up-to-date government information on Emiratisation offerings and targets and reporting and oversight to SLs and the broader talent team
Work on developing new designs/media/strategies to develop and nurture positive employee relations

Ideally, you will also have

A passion to pursue your CIPD in the future or you already have this qualification
Strong communication skills and ability to clearly articulate processes and procedures
