Elon Musk to provide Florida with Starlink satellites in response to Hurricane Ian

Washington, Oct. 2 (BUS) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has agreed to provide the company’s satellite internet service, Starlink, to help respond to Hurricane Ian in areas of southwest Florida that remain offline.

“We are working with the Elon Musk satellite and Starlink. They are placing the Starlink satellites to provide good coverage in southwest Florida and other affected areas,” DeSantis told reporters on Saturday.

“We expect to deploy an additional 120 large Starlink units to southwest Florida.”
