Education Ministry sets up panel to review curricula

Manama, May 10 (BNA): The Minister of Education, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Jumaa, announced that a team of specialists has been assigned to conduct a comprehensive review of all school curricula to verify all modifications and changes that have occurred.

The committee will assess the extent of these changes and amendments, and take measures to address anything that would prejudice national and religious constants.

It will also set the necessary methodological standards and procedures to preserve the richness of curricula in dealing with religious constants and spreading Islamic teachings.

This step, which reflects commitment to the approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, comes in implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to halt any changes to the Kingdom’s educational curricula. It is not compatible with Bahrain’s national values designed to protect religion and its fundamental pillars.

The minister explained that the specialized team was assigned to withdraw the textbooks included in the review process to resubmit them after making sure that all correct and necessary amendments had been completed.

The minister affirmed commitment to continue efforts to achieve the best academic and achievement levels, which contributes to a good upbringing of the quality of educational outputs and academic levels.
