Manama, June 1 (BNA): The Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Juma, inaugurated the first training workshop within the project “Assessing the Contribution of Urban Landscaping to Carbon Sequestration and Storage in the Kingdom.” the two seas “.

The event was held under the auspices of the Minister of Education at the Princess Al-Jawhara Al-Ibrahim Center for Molecular Medicine, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.

The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Elections Committee, Dr. Diana Al-Joharmi, Acting President of the Arabian Gulf University, Dr. Abdul Rahman Yusuf Ismail, and other officials.

Dr. Juma confirmed the Ministry’s cooperation in organizing the workshop, within the framework of the agreement concluded between the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NAID) and the Arabian Gulf University to conduct a study on the contribution of urban trees and shrubs to carbon sequestration and carbon absorption. The study comes within the framework of the “Forever Green” national afforestation campaign, in implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. and prime minister.

She noted the role of the Arabian Gulf University for its specialized research capabilities, noting that these efforts aim to strengthen the national campaign for afforestation (Green Forever), open broader horizons for community partnership, encourage meaningful scientific research, and support the quest to preserve the environment. environment and achieving sustainable development.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Yousef Ismail, Acting President of Arabian Gulf University, said that the workshop represents a major step in implementing the agreement, which aims to strengthen and document cooperation between the College of Graduate Studies at Al Ghurair University and the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NAAD).
