Education Minister marks International Day of Education

Manama, January 24 (BNA): The Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, celebrated the World Education Day, which is celebrated on January 24 every year.

The Minister pointed to the Ministry’s success in ensuring the sustainability of distance learning despite the outbreak of the epidemic, taking into account the directives of the national medical team to combat the Corona virus, by providing educational content on the Internet, activities and applications through the educational portal, which reached more than 33 million visits and lessons at all levels through 14 YouTube channels, including one dedicated to people with special needs, in addition to providing lessons on television in cooperation with the Ministry of Information Affairs.

He stressed that the achievements of the education sector are due to the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of the Deputy Prime Minister and Head of State. The Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

Al Nuaimi expressed his pride in providing appropriate education for students with special needs such as simple mental disabilities, Down syndrome, autism, the blind, the deaf and learning difficulties, with all the supporting devices that help them keep pace with the study of their normal lives. peers.

The minister referred to the ministry’s efforts that led to reducing the illiteracy rate to less than 2.4%, according to the annual report issued by UNESCO under the title (Education for All). This was achieved through the provision of several evening education centers for men and women distributed over the various governorates.

He indicated that the Kingdom is in the process of working on digital literacy, which has become one of the basic sustainable development goals.

Al-Nuaimi announced the construction plan, which includes the establishment of 18 new schools and 24 academic buildings in various governorates, with the aim of raising the capacity of schools in various educational stages.
