Ecuador landslide kills at least seven in the Andes


Ecuador, March 28 (BNA) A landslide triggered by heavy rains in the Andean region of Ecuador has killed at least seven people, injured 23 and left nearly 50 missing, the country’s risk agency said in a revised report.

Its statement on Twitter raised the number of missing persons to 46 from seven in its previous report. In all, 500 people and 163 homes were affected.

Rescue workers searched for survivors under the rubble with the help of dogs. According to Reuters, in some areas, most homes were completely buried underground.
