Earth Hour event held across countries as symbol of commitment to planet

Hong Kong, March 26 (BNA): Landmarks in Malaysia, Australia and the Philippines went dark on Saturday night to celebrate this year’s Earth Hour, a global movement organized by the World Wildlife Fund.

According to the Chinese news agency (Xinhua), the event is held annually to encourage individuals, communities and companies to turn off unnecessary electric lights for one hour on the last Saturday of March as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
