Džeko double as Inter downs Atalanta ahead of Juve vs. Lazio

Rome, November 13 (BNA) A great performance from Eden Deco helped Inter Milan come back from behind to win 3-2 over Atalanta on Sunday and move closer to second place.

A penalty kick from Ademola Lookman gave Atalanta the lead, but Džeko scored twice and Jose Luis Palomino’s own goal secured Inter’s victory, according to the Associated Press.

The Nerazzurri climbed to fourth, equal in points with second-placed Lazio and AC Milan, who were playing later. Atalanta remained sixth, three points behind Inter.

Four of the five teams under Napoli were facing each other in hopes of putting pressure on the Serie A leaders in the final round before Serie A was paused for the World Cup and the traditional winter break. Inter will host Napoli in the first rematch.

Napoli started the day 11 points ahead of second-placed Lazio, who was playing with fourth-placed Juventus this evening. Milan was also playing later, against Fiorentina.

Atalanta had been looking to recover from a streak of three defeats in their past four games, going ahead in the 25th minute when Inter defender Stephane de Vrij stopped Duvan Zapata and Lookman scored the resulting penalty.

But his superiority lasted 11 minutes before Hakan Celhanoglu hit a cross from the left, which Lautaro Martinez gestured brilliantly for Deco to shoot with his foot on the far post.

Inter turned the whole game over in five minutes of the second half as the first Džeko beat his mark to hit Federico Dimarco’s cross and then Palomino headed into his own net after a corner kick.
