Dortmund advances in German Cup with 2-0 win at Hannover

Berlin, October 19 (BNA): Borussia Dortmund advanced to the third round of the German Football Cup today, Wednesday, with a 2-0 victory over second-division club Hannover.

The Associated Press reported that 17-year-old Yusuf Mukoko scored an own goal from Bright Ari Mbe in the 11th minute and Judd Bellingham, 19, converted a penalty in the 71st.

Dortmund have been looking for confidence-building performance after just two wins out of their previous eight games in all competitions – the nature of the team’s 2-0 loss to Union Berlin on Sunday was still smart – but not convincing in Hanover.

The home team created more chances and it should have been a draw before Phil Newman received the penalty for a foul on Bellingham, who came on as a substitute.

It was the first game in any competition that Bellingham had not started for Dortmund since December, as coach Edin Terzic tried to give the England midfielder a break.
