Deputy Premier: Residential towns essential pillar of Bahrain’s pioneering housing experience

Manama, May 29 (BNA) The Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa affirmed that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Kingdom is proud of the government’s success under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al The successor to the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister is in full implementation of the royal directives to build 40,000 housing units.


He said that this achievement reflects the will of the Bahrain team and its determination to overcome challenges in order to implement the order of His Majesty the King to provide adequate housing for thousands of Bahraini families.


He stressed that residential city projects are among the pillars of the Bahraini pioneering experience in the field of affordable social housing, noting that it reflects the government’s keenness to provide adequate housing for citizens, in addition to providing all needs. The necessities of a decent life for the residents and visitors of those cities, including facilities and services.


He pointed out that the city of Salman is a living example of the government’s vision in terms of planning residential cities and providing all requirements for quality and living housing for citizens.


The Deputy Prime Minister made these statements during his visit to the city of Salman, today, accompanied by the Minister of Housing, Basem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, to see the progress of work in its projects and services.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Issam bin Abdullah Khalaf, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, and officials from relevant ministries and government departments.


During the visit, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah praised the rich diversity of the city of Salman with regard to the design of units, apartments and neighborhoods in a way that suits their nature, as it consists of a group of islands. He also praised the provision of water fronts, public beaches, pedestrian walkways and bike lanes, in addition to a developed road network.


The Deputy Prime Minister added: “What distinguishes the city of Salman is the attention to the environmental aspect by ensuring the afforestation of the main and secondary roads, and the provision of green spaces that reflect the civilized nature of the city. All of these features are aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in particular the eleventh goal dedicated to sustainable cities and communities. “


After that, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the Salman City Visitor Center, which serves the residents of the town, and includes a photo exhibition documenting all stages of construction in the city’s projects.


While inspecting the ongoing projects in the city of Salman, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah was briefed on the progress of work on the 303-unit project, and the construction site of residential buildings consisting of 1,382 apartments.


He was also briefed on the city’s facilities, including the public park and waterfront.

The Minister of Housing expressed his happiness with the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to the city of Salman, stressing that thanks to the steadfast support of His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Housing succeeded in building five residential cities simultaneously, which enabled it to succeed. Implementation of the royal directives to provide 40 thousand housing units.


He also praised the role played by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, to coordinate with the competent authorities in order to facilitate the implementation of the royal directives, indicating that his support contributed to removing everything. Obstacles and challenges.


Al-Hamar added that the implementation of projects in all residential towns is in line with the current government’s action plan, noting that the Ministry of Housing will continue to implement the projects planned in Salman City and other towns.
