DANAT hosts Amber expert

Manama, March 21 (BNA) The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (Danat) hosted amber extractor Michel Kosieur on an official visit.

The visit consisted of seminars, meetings with Bahraini gem dealers, and workshops.

Nora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, said hosting Kosior is part of the cultural activities of “DANAT” to raise awareness among traders, manufacturers and others interested in pearls and gemstones, as well as to familiarize future generations with the amber industry.

“Danat’s interest in amber is due to its fame in Bahrain and the Arab Gulf states, and it has a special place in Arab literature, poetry and heritage, where it is known as “amber”, and many writers, poets, and artists have used it in their creative works, Jamsheer said.

The Danat Institute took this visit as an opportunity to promote its laboratory which provides an accredited testing service for amber as well as other services, in line with the Institute’s vision to transform Bahrain into a regional center of excellence in the field of geology.
