Cyclone Mandous kills three, affects over 21,000 in Sri Lanka


Colombo, Dec. 12 (BNA): The Disaster Management Center in Sri Lanka said that three people were killed and more than 21,000 people were affected due to the bad weather caused by Cyclone Mundus.

The DMC said 19 people were injured and those affected belonged to 6,113 families in 16 districts, adding that 5,639 homes in different parts of the island nation were damaged, according to Bernama.

DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodipelli told the media that they have already started damage assessment and those affected will be compensated.

The DMC said the impacts of Mandus have decreased significantly but it is still asking Sri Lankans to take precautions.
