City’s Haaland on the same level as Messi, Ronaldo

England, April 9 (BNA): Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said that striker Erling Haaland is at the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, after the Norway international scored two goals in a 4-1 win over Southampton in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Haaland scored with a fantastic header and bicycle kick, bringing his tally to 44 goals in all competitions this season, 30 of them coming in the English Premier League.

According to Reuters, his total tally is now tied for the most ever by a Premier League player in all competitions in a single season, equaling Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2002-03 and Mohamed Salah in 2017-18.

Guardiola was in awe of Haaland’s second goal, which he curled in acrobaticly from a Jack Grealish cross.

The 22-year-old, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund, is now four goals short of the record 34 goals in a Premier League season set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

City ranks second in the league with 67 points from 29 games, five points behind leaders Arsenal.
