Shanghai, November 29 (BNA): The National Health Commission stated that China recorded a decrease in the number of new infections with COVID-19 on November 28, as it recorded 38,645 cases, of which 3,624 were symptomatic and 35,021 were asymptomatic.
On Monday, China reported a daily record high of 40,347 cases – 3,822 symptoms and 36,525 asymptomatic infections, which China counts separately, according to Reuters.
Excluding imported infections, China on Tuesday reported 38,421 new domestic cases, of which 3,561 were symptomatic and 34,860 asymptomatic, down from 40,052 the previous day.
There were no deaths for two consecutive days, bringing the death toll to 5,233.
As of November 28, mainland China has confirmed a total of 315,248 COVID cases with symptoms.
Local government data showed that on Monday, the Chinese capital, Beijing, recorded 957 symptomatic cases and 3,429 asymptomatic cases, compared to 840 symptomatic and 3,048 asymptomatic cases the previous day.
The Shanghai financial center reported 20 symptomatic and 158 asymptomatic cases, compared with 16 symptomatic and 128 asymptomatic cases the previous day, the local health authority reported.
Cases in the major cities of Guangzhou and Chongqing decreased slightly, but thousands of infections had been recorded as of Monday.
The city of Guangzhou in the south, with a population of about 19 million, reported 286 new locally transmitted symptomatic cases and 6,993 asymptomatic cases, compared with 199 symptomatic and 7,166 asymptomatic cases the previous day, local authorities said.
Local government authorities said Chongqing reported 209 new asymptomatic new locally transmitted COVID-19 infections and 8,583 asymptomatic cases, compared with 238 symptomatic and 9,447 asymptomatic cases the day before.
