Description of Swissotel Makkah:

Swissôtel Makkah is the first Swissotel hotel to open in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The hotel offers 1,487 elegant rooms and suites with a modern design that complements the values ​​of current Arab culture.

As part of the prestigious Abraj Al Bait complex, the luxury Swissôtel Makkah is a modern five-star hotel located near the Grand Mosque, overlooking the Kaaba and the Grand Mosque.

Swissôtel Makkah is part of a new urban development, including two restaurants, one executive lounge, two meeting rooms and a business center. It has special entrances that make it easier for pilgrims to reach the Grand Mosque.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to Hotel Manager and Group Manager for Engineering, core responsibilities and functions include but are not limited to the following:

– Joint coordination of renewal and capital projects within the specified framework and time.
Prepare and monitor the annual maintenance budget and assist in the preparation of the capital plan.
Provide leadership, support and direction to the department.
Provide overall direction to management towards achieving company, hotel and department goals.
– Monitoring the preventive maintenance program for the hotel.
Manage and coordinate external contractors within established guidelines.
Ensure that the hotel complies with all government regulations related to building code requirements, health, fire and life safety programmes.
– Works closely with the fire and safety department of the owner company.
Review ongoing service contracts for contractor performance and competitive pricing.
Monitor energy management program to ensure cost-effective use of facilities and reduce energy consumption.
Maintain a close and effective working relationship with all other departments and external contractors.
Establish quantitative performance standards and use performance management principles to fully maximize the productivity of colleagues.
Principal member of the hotel emergency operations and able to provide expertise in construction operations and review the hotel crisis management plan twice a year.
Conduct weekly inspections of buildings and services, prepare reports for improvements and take necessary actions.
Oversee fire and safety standards, performance management, recruitment and training of the engineering department.
Create a training program on firefighting and safety in coordination with the T&C Manager for all departments.
Maintain close coordination with the fire and safety department of the owner company for fire training and evacuation practice every three months.
Prepare and arrange a training program for engineering staff and other fire and safety departments, on job training, daily engineering briefing, monthly engineering communications meeting, cross/multi-tasking engineering training, and others as required.
Hold a monthly health/safety and environment meeting with all departments and minutes of the meeting issued to all concerned.
Maintain high standards of HACCP and take necessary action for any deficiencies reported by the hygiene manager or consulting firm.
– Follow the correct procedures for keeping the correct records of the control switches.
Provides effective supervision in the day-to-day operation of the engineering store and ensures that all operating procedures are followed up by the store keeper.
Provides effective supervision in the housing of fellows and provides the necessary assistance to the housing engineering department.
Motivating engineering colleagues with a healthy environment and time appreciation.
– Develop an effective training program in the workroom/classroom for the Saudi trainee and closely monitor their work performance during a two-year training program.
Keeping all engineering records in the appropriate packing systems in the engineering office.
Maintain close coordination with external parties regarding engineering matters and related maintenance work.

qualifications:

Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
Must be a highly organized person with strong planning skills.
Goal and results oriented.
Analytical skills and strength as a developer and leader of others are essential.
International experience is an asset.
Energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and has a charismatic team.
– With a minimum of 5-10 years as a project manager or senior engineer (hotel or service environment preferred).
Engineering degree/diploma or similar qualification.
Must have experience leading a team of maintenance personnel, with preference for those who have worked in a union environment, experience in developing engineering assistants
Familiar with all regulations such as building codes and fire and health department requirements.
The ability to communicate positively and instruct employees, and the ability to paraphrase, or “translate” somewhat technical information into terms that the average person might easily understand.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and change circumstances and priorities.
Ability to effectively review, evaluate and modify work as needed to ensure continuous progress towards desired results.
Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously with a focus on results.
Excellent teamwork skills and a high level of basic initiative.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement with current knowledge of the latest technologies.
Skill in the use of computers and software associated with proprietary operations.
Excellent knowledge of construction, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.
– Must have knowledge of blue prints; Read, understand and analyze experience and/or working knowledge of Auto-Cad preferred.
Must have experience in managing capital budgets.
