Burnley upset in FA Cup 3rd round, Olise inspires Palace

London Jan 8 (BUS): Second-tier Huddersfield caused the first shockwave in the third round of the FA Cup, coming from behind to defeat Premier League side Burnley 2-1 on Saturday.

Crystal Palace escaped the panic, however, as they pulled together thanks to an inspiring second-half display by winger Michael Ulis to beat Millwall 2-1, according to the Associated Press.

Premier League clubs are entering the world’s oldest knockout competition in the third round stage and Manchester City had no trouble beating fourth-tier Swindon 4-1 on Friday.

Burnley will not join the Premier League champions in the round of 32, although the team currently in the relegation zone in the first division advanced through Jay Rodriguez in the 28th minute.

Josh Koroma and Matty Pearson scored twice in the last 16 minutes to cause disruption at Turf Moor, where Burnley coach Sean Daecke was not present after he contracted the Corona virus.

Ulysses, a skilled winger, has been used as a substitute in his first season at Palace since joining second tier Reading, but should see more time into the game next month as Palace’s key strikers compete in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 20-year-old started against Millwall and was instrumental in his team’s recovery from a 17th minute delay after goalkeeper Jack Butland’s mistake allowed Bennik Afobe to score.
