BTS’ Jin launches at No. 51 on Billboard Hot 100

Seoul, Nov. 9 (BUS): Jin, the singer of K-pop giant BTS, earned his first solo entry on the US Billboard’s main song chart for his first solo release, Astronaut.

Yonhap Agency reported Tuesday that the single debuted at number 51 on the Hot 100 with 4.9 million US streams and 44,000 downloads sold in its first week of release.

The song also reached number ten on the Billboard Global 200 and sixth on the Billboard Global Excl. US charts, while debuting at the top of the digital song sales and global digital song sales charts. It started at 58 on the Canadian Hot 100.

Astronaut is a pop-rock song co-written by Coldplay, with the British band also playing the recording. Jin co-wrote the lyrics, expressing his love for the military, the K-pop group’s global fanbase.

Jane’s deep emotional voice accompanied by the calm bass of acoustic guitar and the gradual build-up of a synthesized sound create the mysterious and dreamy mood of the song.

After completing promotional activities for The Astronaut, the 29-year-old vocalist is set to leave the music scene temporarily to become the first BTS member to enlist for mandatory military service.
