Brooks, Jackson lead Grizzlies in 126-91 blowout of 76ers

Memphis, Tennessee Dec. 14 (BUS): Dillon Brooks scored 23 points, Garen Jackson Jr. added 22, and the Memphis Grizzlies scored better than 50% to dominate the Philadelphia 76ers for a 126-91 victory Monday night.

De Anthony Melton finished with 15 points and Tyus Jones scored 13 for Memphis, making all but one of his seven shots. The Grizzlies have won eight of their last nine.

Therese Maxi led the Sixers with 23 points, and Charles Bassey added 13. Milton and Tobias Harris ended up shaking with 12 points each as Philadelphia played without quarterback Joel Embiid, a late scratch with a sore right in the right rib, the Associated Press reported.

Part of Philadelphia’s problems was from a 3-point range, going 4 for 22.

Memphis led by 12 points in the game and extended the lead to 82-60 with 14-4 to open the third quarter. This was just the beginning: Memphis went 101-75 to enter fourth, in part because Jackson’s 13 points in the third quarter, and because the Sixers turned the ball more than six times in the quarter.

At this point, Sixers coach Doc Rivers allowed the reserve team to close the match. Memphis’ lead reached 36 in the fourth inning.

Both teams fired well in the first half, with the Sixers notching a 53% clip and Memphis just under 57%. But Philadelphia’s accuracy was met with eight turnarounds in the first half. The team averaged 12.6 games.
