Los Angeles, September 23 (BUS) – Britney Spears said in a lawsuit Wednesday that she and her father agreed that the guardianship that has controlled her life and money since 2008 should end.
The lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court from Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart says she “fully agrees” to “expeditiously” terminate guardianship, an order her father James Spears, who controlled her for most of her 13 years, requested on 9/11. 7 petition.
This is the first time Britney Spears has called for an end to the arrangement in court documents, though she has called for it to be ended in hearings, the Associated Press reports.
However, her file asserts that it is important for her to remove her father, describing it as a “necessary – and significant – first step towards Mrs. Spears’ freedom and an end to Kafka’s nightmare imposed on her by her father, so that basic dignity and freedoms can be restored”.
The lawsuit says it is urgent that James Spears cease his role as trustee of Britney Spears’ finances by September 29, the date of the next hearing in the case.
“Mr. Spears cannot be allowed to control his daughter for another day,” the document says.
The documents also reveal that Britney Spears is in the process of creating a prenuptial agreement after her engagement to longtime boyfriend Sam Asgari earlier this month. This process will mean the guardian’s extensive involvement of her money, a role her father cannot be allowed to play, the lawsuit states.
