Britain’s Queen Elizabeth attends Chelsea Flower Show

London, May 24 (BNA): Britain’s Queen Elizabeth attended the Chelsea Flower Show, Monday, in the latest of several appearances that helped ease public concerns about her health ahead of the national celebration of her seven decades on the throne.

Reuters reports that the 96-year-old monarch was driving around the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual festival of garden design in west London, saving her from having to wander around the fair’s attractions.

Early next month, Britain will honor the Queen’s platinum jubilee with four days of celebration. Buckingham Palace has previously stated that she intends to attend a number of different events.

Last week she made a surprise appearance at the opening ceremony of a new railway in London and the previous week she attended a horse show on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Earlier in May, she missed her annual address to Parliament, in which the palace spoke of occasional commuting problems. Until recently, she was not seen much in public after spending a night in the hospital last October with an unspecified illness.
