Braves win opener of World Series rematch

Georgia, Aug. 20 (BUS): Austin Riley scored a three-game attack on Friday night in favor of the rookie Atlanta Braves, who beat the visiting Houston Astros 6-2 in the first game between the two teams since the World Championships last October.

The Braves, who beat the Astros in six matches last year to win their first title since 1995, have won 10 of their past 11 matches. The Astros lost only for the third time in nine matches.

Kyle Wright (15-5) took the win after allowing two rounds over six runs. Dansby Swanson finished with three strokes, and Ronald Acuna Jr., Riley and Eddie Rosario had two hits each in Atlanta, Reuters reports.

Houston’s Lance McCullers Jr. (1-1) gave up three runs in five. The Astros left Jordan Alvarez at the bottom of the fifth game because he was feeling ill. The team announced that he had been taken to hospital for evaluation.
