BIC begins to welcome WEC participants ahead of this weekend’s Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain

Manama, November 8 (BNA) The Bahrain International Circuit, “the home of motorsports in the Middle East”, began welcoming in the Kingdom of Bahrain the stars of the drivers, teams and racing officials participating in the highly anticipated weekend events. Bahrain 8 hours Bapco.


The final round of the 2022 FIA Championship took over Sakhir on Friday and Saturday (editor’s note: November 11-12), and the event participants are here now and have started their final preparations for a great weekend. Endurance racing.


Racing fans will be able to enjoy the Le Mans-inspired thrills over two days, but the on-track program begins on Thursday (November 10) behind closed doors.


The weekend runners received a warm welcome on their arrival in Bahrain by the Meet and Greet team at the Bahrain Information Center at Bahrain International Airport, and were assisted with their arrival procedures as well as transportation to their accommodations.

Among those spotted at the airport are Peugeot Totalenergies drivers Paul de Resta and Gustavo Menezes, who will make a historic debut in Bahrain in their team’s 9X8 Hypercars. Alongside the Alfa Romeo F1 test team and reserve driver Robert Kubica, who is set to race the LMP2 Outfit Prema Orlen, and LMGTE Pro driver Richard Leitz, who aims to help Porsche take the GT manufacturers title to finish the championship. Meanwhile, the level of preparation has ramped up in all corners of the BIC Information Center with WEC teams unloading their gear boxes to get their garage and team buildings ready for the start of the race on Thursday. Before that, on Wednesday, the teams’ cars will be closely checked by officials while drivers will have their traditional route around the 5,412-kilometre Grand Prix circuit.


Bapco 8 Hours in Bahrain for this year is the final round of the World Energy Council’s historic 10th anniversary season.


Tickets for the WEC event are still available and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets today so they don’t miss another extra special event at BIC.


All retail customers who purchased their tickets before 12pm on Wednesday, 9th November, will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win the “money can’t buy” chance to be online before Bapco 8 Hours starts in Bahrain on Saturday 12th November.

The endurance racing scene will feature a packed grid of 37 cars with competition in four WEC race classes. They’ll race in wheel-to-wheel motion from day to night, making for a gorgeous spectacle blazing under the midday sun and then concluding under the stars while brilliantly illuminated by BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights.


The importance of Bapco 8 Hours in Bahrain goes beyond racing and entertainment.


This year, the Bank Information Center will implement the ground-breaking new Green Ticket project, which will set the standard for a number of initiatives in the areas of sustainability. This very special initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C. “nogaholding” and the Government of Bahrain.

A percentage of the ticket price will be donated with an amount corresponding to nogaholding for a local environmental project in cooperation with the government. This special fund will finance the cultivation of mangroves in Bahrain, and actively contribute to Bahrain’s commitment to four times cover mangroves in the Kingdom by 2035.
