BIBF conducts high-level sustainability training for Eskan Bank

Manama, November 10 (BNA) The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), the region’s premier training and development provider, held a high-level awareness session for the Housing Bank staff and managers on sustainable development, as the first physical training in the city of Manama. The new lecture hall in Bahrain Bay.

The awareness session provided an overview of the concept of sustainable development, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors and their implications for business. During the interactive workshop, the Housing Bank team had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of sustainable development and link its application to the Bank’s business model.

This training was conducted as part of the Academy of Sustainable Development which offers various capacity building programs in this growing field. The Academy was launched in May 2021 in line with the Kingdom’s commitment towards green initiatives, and the BIBF continues to update its programs in accordance with recent announcements in the region such as the Net Zero target by 2060 for Bahrain.

Commenting on the success of the session, Director of the Banking and Financial Center at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, Ms. Zeb Askar, Chartered Financial Analyst, stated: “The interest in sustainable development is rapidly evolving from government levels to the business world. The demand for sustainable and socially responsible practices and businesses is increasing at every level. From the individual and institutional side.As the training arm of the Central Bank of Bahrain, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance is committed to leading the process of reshaping and developing human capital skills in Bahrain and the region to complement the broader national and regional sustainable development vision.

She added, “With the Housing Bank’s pivotal drive towards integrating sustainable development initiatives, they are committed to ensuring that all of their employees across different levels acquire an understanding of sustainability and its applications in the workplace.”
