BD3.5m in procurement requests discussed at 59th ICT Governance Committee meeting

Manama, Jan. 30 (BNA): Procurement requests by government agencies were discussed at the 59th meeting of the Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee by videoconference, chaired by Mr. Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority.

The leader welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their continued contributions. The committee covered a range of topics, including the Renewable Energy Certificates Platform project, which aims to facilitate certificate issuance procedures using (Blockchain) technology to enhance the protection and transparency of certificates circulated through the platform. This comes within the framework of the National Renewable Energy Plan, which aims to make the Kingdom of Bahrain a center of excellence for sustainable energy and encourage the production of renewable energy, which contributes to reducing associated carbon emissions.

The committee highlighted the technology infrastructure development project of the Information and eGovernment Authority, through which modern technologies will be adopted to build a virtual cloud to run government systems and applications based on cloud computing services. This increases efficiency, improves information security, and reduces the administrative and financial burdens of managing and operating a data center.

The committee also discussed the wireless network infrastructure development project at the University of Bahrain, through which the network devices at the university will be upgraded and coverage will be expanded to include more facilities such as classrooms, administrative offices, libraries and open areas to improve the educational and academic experience by providing mobility. and contact.

The committee reviewed the implementation of the decisions of the previous meetings and concluded its meeting by highlighting the most important achievements during the past year.
