BCCI Chairman calls for unified Gulf law for commercial franchising

Muscat, May 11 (BNA): Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sameer stressed the importance of enacting a unified Gulf law for granting commercial concessions.

He pointed out that the proposed legislation would contribute to encouraging commercial franchising activities by establishing a framework that regulates the relationship between the franchisor and the “brand owner”.

He pointed out that the unified law will also provide the necessary legal protection and contribute to granting the concessionaire the freedom to expand in the GCC countries.

This came in a speech delivered by the President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry before the consultative meeting held in the Sultanate of Oman, which included trade ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and heads of the councils of federations and chambers of commerce and industry in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

He added, “The enactment of a unified Gulf law for commercial concessions will benefit the Gulf economy as a whole and stimulate trade between citizens and companies of the GCC countries smoothly and safely.”

He stressed the importance of moving in support of economic integration among the GCC countries through several alternatives and stimulating trade to diversify sources of income.

The First Vice President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalid Mohammed Najibi, stressed the importance of holding such consultative meetings that serve, support and enhance joint cooperation between the public and private sectors in order to support economic growth in the GCC countries.

He called for more coordination between the chambers of commerce and the executive authorities to seize the investment opportunities available in all sectors locally, regionally and globally.
