Berlin Oct 7 (BUS): Bayern Munich appears to have gotten rid of its usual early-season relegation just in time for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, according to the Associated Press.
The two rivals are equal on points after eight matches in the Bundesliga, but surprisingly neither team is at the top of the standings in the Der Classicer. It’s the first time this has happened since Wolfsburg won the title in 2009. Union Berlin is currently number one.
Bayern’s mini slump – four games without a win before the international break – saw the Bavarian force slip into the standings, but the team rebounded with a 4-0 win over Bayern Leverkusen followed by a 5-0 win over the Czechs. Champion Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.
Dortmund also won the Champions League 4-1 at Seville, but luckily the home team missed many good chances.
Dortmund lost their previous game, 3-2 in Cologne, and are already starting to show some of the inconsistency that has plagued the team in previous seasons. It was his second league loss in three games.
Bayern Munich have won their last seven league matches with Dortmund, 23-7. If Dortmund wanted to prevent the Bavarian club from claiming their eleventh consecutive title, this would be a good place to start.
