Bayern and Dortmund fly into Champions League, Leipzig under pressure

Berlin, Oct. 18 (BUS): There has been a mix of big-name looks in Germany in the elite European competition this season with the group stage reaching its midway point.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund say they will lead a confident German side into the Champions League this mid-week, but Leipzig is under pressure and another loss could spell an early end to their hopes, dpa international said.

After beating Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 on Sunday, Bayern are in high spirits when they face Benfica in Group E on Wednesday. And in the other match, Barcelona – who are useless – are in a desperate mood when they face Dynamo Kiev.

Dortmund travel to Ajax for a record-breaking Group C clash on Tuesday while Leipzig, after two defeats so far, travel to Paris Saint-Germain for a repeat of the 2020 semi-finals.

Bayern went on to lift the trophy that year, and despite being ousted from Chelsea last season, his current form indicates that he is among the favorites for the title again.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann praised his team’s “amazing number of chances and excellent structure” in the break, and the ease after the break came naturally.

In Group B, Group B leaders Liverpool will visit Atletico Madrid to meet their former striker Luis Suarez, and in Group H Chelsea are looking to return to the right track at home against Malmo after losing to Juventus last time.

Sherif of Moldova hopes to continue his fantasy novel in Group D away to Inter Milan, after beating Real Madrid, who now face Shakhtar Donetsk.
