Manama, March 2, (BNA) The United Nations Platform for Human Settlements (Habitat) presented the second voluntary report of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The report, titled “Progress of Implementation of the New Urban Scheme” was presented in both Arabic and English by the Minister of Housing, Basem Bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, to UN-Habitat.
Thus, the Kingdom of Bahrain became the fourth Arab country among the 195 member states of the United Nations Program to submit its report via the electronic platform that displays new urban reports.
The report included an introduction to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in which he affirmed that people are partners in development to achieve the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister described the urban plan as one of the pillars of the government’s program to achieve economic growth and keep pace with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.
Al-Hamar said that the Cabinet headed by His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister is determined to achieve the sustainable development goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He said, “The efforts made to prepare this report reflect the government’s interest in transforming the goals into a pioneering program,” praising the performance of the National Media Committee headed by Minister of Cabinet Affairs Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa and its role in achieving sustainability. Development requirements in accordance with international best practices.
He stressed that the first voluntary report, which was reviewed at a high-level meeting at the United Nations in 2018, enabled Bahrain to highlight its sustainable development steps, and thus gained international recognition.
