New York, November 28 (BNA) The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Rowaie, delivered a speech today at the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on evaluation. He pointed out that the Kingdom is under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and thanks to the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Kingdom attaches great importance to supporting all efforts. Which aims to combat human trafficking, by following international standards and issuing relevant laws and regulations.
He reviewed the Kingdom’s efforts to maintain its position in the first category for the fourth year in a row in the report issued by the US State Department in the field of combating human trafficking.
In this regard, he referred to the issuance of Law No. 1 of 2008 regarding combating human trafficking, the establishment of the national mechanism for referring vulnerable migrants, and the establishment of the Arrivals Protection Center to provide preventive and advisory services, among other things. Achievements.
The permanent delegate explained that the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to promote the culture of combating human trafficking, and has established the Regional Center of Excellence to build capacities in the field of combating human trafficking, in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs. And crime in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the International Organization for Migration.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has established an anti-trafficking prosecution specialized in human trafficking cases, which is an advanced step towards strengthening criminal protection for victims of human trafficking in a way that guarantees them their established rights, to be in the first place. An Arab country to establish such a prosecution.
He affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued cooperation with the international community in all efforts aimed at combating human trafficking, preventing this cross-border crime and protecting its victims.
