Bahrain’s democratic and parliamentary strides highlighted

Manama, January 5 (BNA) The Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee of the House of Representatives held a session of talks with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, David McAllister, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain next January. 5-6.

The committee, headed by Representative Mohamed Ibrahim Al-Sisi, shed light on the development of Bahrain and the parliamentary steps in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He stressed Bahrain’s approach based on human rights principles, a culture of coexistence, peace and openness, and the consolidation of public and religious freedoms.

In this regard, he referred to the launch of the King Hamad Chair for Interreligious Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at Sapienza University in Rome, Italy.

The committee affirmed the Bahraini Parliament’s support for national efforts in light of the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), and the improvement of the use of modern technologies to hold virtual sessions.

He stressed the parliament’s keenness to coordinate with the parliaments of friendly countries, especially the European Parliament.

He highlighted Bahrain’s efforts and wide-ranging achievements within the framework of His Majesty the King’s reform project, stressing the importance of building bridges of friendship and cooperation with other parliaments in the world.

Head of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister stressed the importance of reviewing Bahrain’s parliamentary and democratic trends, praising the wise visions of His Majesty the King.
