Bahrain Telecommunications, IT and e-economy strategy hailed

Manama, February 4 (BNA) The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) praised Bahrain’s new strategy for developing the telecommunications sector, information technology and e-economy (2002-2026).

The four-year roadmap was described as a pioneering step that contributes to enhancing Bahrain’s level in the e-participation index within the United Nations e-government report and enhancing the efficiency of government services through electronic transformation.

Adel Mohammed Darwish, Director of the ITU Regional Office for Arab States, praised Bahrain’s strategy that supports economic development, services and productive sectors.

He referred to Bahrain’s strong digital infrastructure, which contributes to accelerating digital transformation, adding that the four-year plan comes within the framework of the economic recovery roadmap that will enhance the Kingdom’s position towards achieving the Economic Vision 2020.
