Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): The curtain has fallen today on the second edition of the Khalid bin Hamad Chess Championship for Bahrain Schools (2022-2023).
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Sports and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, patronized the closing ceremony that was held in Khalifa Sports City. The Ministry of Education organized the competition in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sports, the Bahrain Association for Mental Sports and the Bahrain Chess Club.
Up to 5,000 students from public and private schools competed in the qualification stage, of which 400 competed to reach the final stage and compete for the first places.
The session was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Public Authority for Sports and Education, Minister of Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, CEO of the Authority, Dr. Abdul Rahman Askar, Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies and Performance, and President of the Bahrain Association for Mental Sports, Dr. Tariq Al.
