Geneva, November 17 (BNA) The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the World Trade Organization and the current head of the ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Dr. Yousef Abdul Karim Bujairi, participated in the third review of trade policy that Oman is conducting.
The session was held today at the headquarters of the World Trade Organization, headed by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Sultanate of Oman, Qais bin Muhammad Al-Yousef, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Manufacturing Industries. The Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, Ambassador Idris Al-Khanjari, and other international organizations also participated in Geneva.
The ambassador delivered a speech on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in which he welcomed the delegation of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman and thanked the WTO Secretariat for its efforts in preparing the detailed report.
He noted that the report illustrates the various efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman, within the framework of the development strategy of Oman Vision 2040, to promote the country’s economic development and diversification agenda – including a commitment to increase real GDP per capita by 90% and real GDP growth by 5% % annually for the next 20 years.
The ambassador concluded his speech by highlighting the role of the Sultanate of Oman as a strong and long-term supporter of the World Trade Organization and the multilateral trading system, wishing the Sultanate success in reviewing its trade policy.
