Bahrain participates in IPU’s 145th assembly


Kigali, October 16 (BNA) First Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Jamal Muhammad Fakhro headed the delegation participating in the 145th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Fakhro said that Bahrain’s hosting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly from March 11 to 15 will shed light on the principles and values ​​of coexistence, tolerance and dialogue and support the foundations of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

On behalf of Parliament, he called on all heads and representatives of parliaments of the world to participate in enriching parliamentary dialogues and adding to the successes achieved by the Inter-Parliamentary Union over 133 years.

The first deputy said that the topic that was approved at the 146th session of the General Assembly in the Kingdom is: Promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusive societies: fighting intolerance.

Fakhro indicated that the selection of this topic was based on the principles and values ​​that have been established in Bahrain throughout history as a place for civilizations, sects and religions and an axis of peace, coexistence and dialogue.

He pointed out that preparations began months ago to host the upcoming General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
