Baku, June 30 (BNA): First Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council Jamal Muhammad Fakhro participated today in the opening session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, which was held here in the presence of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. .
The conference, entitled “Strengthening the Role of National Parliaments in Promoting Global Peace and Sustainable Development”, was attended by representatives of the parliaments of the ten member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, in addition to heads and representatives of nine international parliamentary organizations.
During the opening session, the Azerbaijani President delivered a speech in which he urged concerted efforts to resolve disputes and disagreements on the basis of international principles and charters.
The Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly, Sohiba Gavarova, who was elected chairperson of the Parliamentary Network of the NAM Congress, also delivered a statement calling for the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination among parliaments of member states on important topics.
