Bahrain participates in 8th Our Ocean Conference

Panama City, March 3 (BNA): A Bahraini delegation headed by Ambassador Shaikha Aisha bint Ahmed Al Khalifa participated in the eighth “Our Ocean” conference, which was held here on March 2 and 3.


The ambassador stressed that the Kingdom’s participation in the conference comes within the framework of its keenness to support efforts and endeavors aimed at achieving sustainable development goals, protecting the seas, oceans and water resources, and ensuring the sustainable use of marine resources. In line with the sound vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the policies of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


She added that the conference is in line with a set of effective initiatives to support environmental protection efforts launched by the Kingdom over the past two decades as part of the government’s action plan and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.


The 8th Oceans Conference, with the theme “Our Ocean, Our Connection,” was attended by 600 delegates from 190 countries. A number of major topics were discussed, namely climate change, pollution in the marine environment and the sustainable blue economy, in addition to ways to expand marine reserves, reduce plastic pollution, combat illegal fishing, and regulate underwater mining.
