Bahrain participates in 7th Arab Housing Conference

Cairo, Dec. 19 (BNA): Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Aman bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, participated in the opening session of the Seventh Arab Housing Conference, entitled “Towards Smart Sustainable Cities that Achieve Quality of Life.”

Under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the three-day conference is being held on the sidelines of the thirty-ninth session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Construction.

Minister Al-Rumaihi praised the topics on the agenda of the conference, stressing that innovation in smart cities has become a necessary requirement for the future of urban societies. She also affirmed Bahrain’s constant keenness to consolidate creativity and innovation in developing new communities and cities.

She also indicated that governments are now paying special attention to the issue of providing smart infrastructure in city-building projects, which contributes to connecting those cities with the fastest services, in a way that benefits the lives of their residents.

She added that many countries are currently connecting cities with 5G technology to maximize capabilities and raise the efficiency of using technical means and means, as well as to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of infrastructure, noting that this has become a fundamental matter and represents one of the most important things. components of smart cities.

Al-Rumaihi stressed the importance of a gradual shift towards smart cities, stressing that this must be done with deliberate planning methods. She also called for the need to set global rules, standards and indicators for the establishment of smart cities, noting the need to exchange these standards between countries to reach an integrated model for smart cities.

The minister affirmed that the Kingdom has paid great attention to activating the quality of life requirements in residential cities in Bahrain, by providing facilities and services, such as modern road networks, pedestrian and cycling paths, as well as making public coastlines available. For citizens in coastal cities.

It also highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to plant trees beside main and secondary roads, and to provide open spaces and play areas for children, in addition to joint plans with relevant government agencies to provide commercial, health and educational services and facilities, as well as places of worship. in cities.

The Kingdom participated in the exhibition that was held on the sidelines of the conference. The Bahrain Pavilion included a model of Salman City, as an example of government services provided in the new residential cities. It also included a presentation on the efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in providing housing services in partnership with the private sector.
