Bahrain National Museum hosts exhibition documenting HH Pope’s historic Bahrain visit

Manama, Dec. 5 (BNA): The Bahrain National Museum is hosting a special exhibition documenting the historic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican, to the Kingdom at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.


The exhibition includes words, pictures and collectibles that remind visitors of the meetings that took place during the papal visit, which reflects the exceptional value of this historical event.


The exhibition contains items and collectibles that cover all aspects of the Pope’s visit to the Kingdom and its regional and global importance, as it highlights the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence”, which was held with the participation of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders.


The exhibition documented the meetings of His Holiness the Pope with the Christian community in Bahrain and the region, including the meeting with Our Lady of the Arabs Cathedral, the historic mass held by His Holiness Pope Francis at the Bahrain National Stadium, in the presence of 30,000 people, and His Highness’s meeting with a group of young people at the Sacred Heart School in Manama.


The exhibition devoted a section to the dimensions of the papal visit, as Pope Francis was the first pope to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain, carrying a message of peace, dialogue and coexistence between religions, and devoting what was said about the myths in the country. Bahrain, the “pure and sacred” land of Dilmun, and to establish the importance of the Kingdom’s endeavors, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, to adopt dialogue, rapprochement and peace as principles that embody the country’s vision and rapprochement. The exhibition displays the chair on which His Holiness Pope Francis sat during his participation in the closing session of the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence”.


The exhibition also includes the wooden platform in front of which His Holiness Pope Francis spoke during his visit, as well as the car (Fiat 500) in which His Holiness traveled while he was in Bahrain.
