Manama, Aug. 18 (BNA) The Kingdom of Bahrain has launched a tendering process to award a 20-year contract to local or international bidders to build, own, operate and maintain grid-connected solar photovoltaic panels at a minimum capacity. 72 megawatts in multiple buildings in Sakhir, southern Saudi Arabia.
The tender was launched by Bahrain’s Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs, seeking to build solar panels at the Bahrain International Circuit, University of Bahrain, Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center, and Al Dana Amphitheater.
Solar panels will be built on rooftops, parking canopies, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and the grounds of organizations’ facilities.
To qualify for the tender, bidders must participate in the solar PV business and have successfully implemented at least ten grid-linked solar PV projects (of which at least five are solar PV car parking projects).
In addition, bidders must have been commissioned on at least 40 MW of grid-tied solar PV projects in any country globally in the past three years (2019 – 2021).
