Manama, December 13 (BNA): Bahrain is ready to host the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in 2023.
Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal said that the Kingdom submitted an official request in this regard.
She explained that the step to host the largest international parliamentary assembly is based on Bahrain’s advanced institutional structure, the acclaimed democratic progress, and the expansion of the parliamentary experience, which was achieved thanks to the unlimited support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Zainal said, during her reception of the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, that the House of Representatives is keen to build bridges of cooperation with friendly parliaments, to continue exchange visits with them, and to enhance joint work with international parliamentary institutions, especially the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Zainal stressed that the Council supports the efforts of the Inter-Parliamentary Union as a multilateral organization that actively contributes to unifying the positions and visions of world parliaments in an effort to contribute to consolidating the principles of international peace and security. A better future for the world.
Mr. Chungong praised Bahrain’s advanced levels in enhancing parliamentary performance in serving the people of Bahrain, and stressed that the Bahraini democratic experience is highly appreciated for its great and growing development.
