Manama, November 9 (BNA) The sixth edition of the Bahrain International Airshow 2022 kicked off today at Sakhir Air Base under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
It was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister. The opening ceremony included a tour for dignitaries and delegations participating in the exhibition.
The Bahrain International Airshow 2022, which takes place over three days at Sakhir Air Base, has marked a decade of excellence since its inception in 2010. This saw the attendance of 186 companies, more than 200 civilian and military delegations, and 100 different aircraft on a fixed and flying display.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty the King on the occasion of the launch of the sixth edition of the Bahrain International Air Show, which has established its position as one of the most important global events in the aviation industry. It attracts senior executives and decision makers from global airlines and prominent global airlines.
He said, “Today marks the return of the Bahrain International Airshow, after the success it achieved in previous years, and the commitment to increasing the continuity and sustainability of the various economic sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain in general, and the aviation industry in particular.” .

He pointed out that this edition includes an expanded forum program, a larger exhibition hall, and fully renovated chalets, and includes the participation of more than 30 countries from all over the world, which confirms the steady growth of the Bahrain International Airshow since its inception, and its success as a platform for participation and business development in the aviation industry. .
The activities of the first day included a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications and the General Authority for Military Industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the announcement of the formation of a strategic shipping cooperation between Bahrain-based MENA Aerospace and the Asia Shipping Network in Singapore. Royal Jordanian Airlines also struck a deal with the US company Pratt & Whitney to manufacture engines to power 30 of its aircraft fleet.
Building on BIAS’s goal of providing a hub for skills and education, a workshop was held by Corinne Higgs, Sustainability Expert at Airbus, who introduced Bahraini university students to the latest innovations and sustainability trends in the aviation industry, to highlight Airbus’ journey towards clean space. It aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from its existing aircraft, and its goal is to bring the world’s first zero-emissions commercial aircraft to market by 2035.
The RAF’s famous aerobatics team, the “Red Arrows”, also met with visitors from the family area. The show also included the iconic air show program that showcased air shows and exciting shows from different teams including the Red Arrows, Saudi Falcons, Emirati Knights, and international stars.
The exhibition will continue until Friday, November 11, 2022. The program for the second and third days includes discussion forums for thought leadership, knowledge exchange, additional flight demonstrations, and ongoing activities in the family area for the public.
